Sweet Life Diabetes Community is now an NPO!

I’m so excited to share that over the last few months we’ve been busily working away behind the scenes to transform Sweet Life into an NPO: Sweet Life Diabetes Community. And now, with our new website – www.sweetlife.org.za – and our new mission and goals, we’re ready for an exciting future.

Sweet Life Diabetes Community is now an NPO

8 years of Sweet Life Diabetes Community

Since we started Sweet Life magazine in 2011, we’ve been focusing on sharing the truth that just because you’re diabetic, doesn’t mean you can’t live a happy, healthy life with diabetes. For five years, we did that as a quarterly diabetes magazine, and then we had to move entirely online… Which turned out to be a blessing in disguise, because we were able to focus our attention on Diabetic South Africans, the amazing community we’ve built on Facebook. Instead of just sharing information, we’re now able to have conversations with you – people with diabetes in South Africa – and find out what life is really like, and how we could work to make it better.

Now that we’re an NPO, we’re excited to start working on some ideas to improve the health and lives of people with diabetes in South Africa. You can check out our goals and our team on the About Us page here, and let us know if you feel there’s something else we should be doing: we’re here for you. The Sweet Life Diabetes Community is still focused on encouraging people to live happy, healthy lives with diabetes – we just want to reach further. We know that sharing information is helpful, but what would be even more helpful is exploring the behavioural change necessary to help people live healthier lives.

  1. I am diabetic type 2 .My sugar is always high.I need something to show me how to prepare my food.I think sweetlife magazine can help me to reduce my glucose levels together with treatment and exercise. I also want to learn new things. I also want to be part of the community.

Sweet Life is a registered NPO/PBO (220-984) with a single goal: to improve diabetes in South Africa. We are funded by sponsorships and donations from aligned companies and organisations who believe in our work. We only share information that we believe benefits our community. While some of this information is linked to specific brands, it is not an official endorsement of that brand. We believe in empowering people with diabetes to make the best decisions they can, to live a healthy, happy life with diabetes.
