Support our work

Your contributions will help us to empower people with diabetes throughout South Africa, by providing them with diabetes education that works.

Diabetes is the number one killer of women in South Africa… But it’s not a lethal condition.

One of Sweet Life’s main goals is to empower people with diabetes on their journey to a healthy, happy life – through providing answers to all their diabetes questions, and a community to support and share experiences with.

But when we researched what information was missing in diabetes education in South Africa, the answer came back clearly: understanding what food choices to make, and what portion sizes were appropriate.

That’s why we created this free Healthy Food Guide – assessed by the National Department of Health and a behavioural scientist, tested in public clinics nationwide. Our goal is for every underserved school in South Africa to have these books available as part of their Life Orientation programme, so that we can help the next generation understand what healthy food choices are – and so that they can teach their parents.

This guide isn’t just for diabetes, but for high blood pressure, cholesterol and weight loss. We’re looking forward to a South Africa of healthy individuals, where diabetes – and healthy eating – is understood by the masses.
