Let’s talk about Sweet Life in 2025

It’s a whole new year! Here’s what Sweet Life has planned in 2025 – will you join us (please)?

Sweet Life 2025

It’s going to be a great year for South Africans with Diabetes! Here are the four big projects we’re focusing on for the year, but we also want your input. Is there something we’re forgetting? Something urgent we should be working on?

Remember, Sweet Life is all about diabetes education: we want to empower South Africans with diabetes by giving you all the information you need to live a healthy, happy life.

SA Diabetes Advocacy has a bunch of exciting diabetes advocacy projects – that’s their core focus and you can find out more about them here.

So what are we up to?

Monthly diabetes media

We need more stories about diabetes in the media! So every month we will write a diabetes-related media release about a specific topic or diabetes hero or aligned health topic, and send it to websites and radio and TV stations around the country. We already have a few ideas and a bunch of contacts, but if you have any you think we should include please comment on this post or email us!

Iterate the Sweet Life Chatbot

V1 of the Sweet Life Chatbot is live, and we’re doing an extensive, nationwide feedback drive to find out what works and what doesn’t. V2 will launch in the second half of the year – watch this space!

Diabetes stigma campaign

We’ve written about diabetes stigma a few times before, but now it’s time for a targeted diabetes stigma campaign with strong media exposure to bring diabetes stigma into the spotlight. We’ll be inviting you, our community, to join us as we create a hero video with all different kinds of people living with diabetes saying “Diabetes looks like me.” And we’ll make make 14 May official #DiabetesLooksLikeMe day.

#WearBlueforDiabetes

Our annual World Diabetes Day campaign, but now with more schools, more companies, more individuals. Moving beyond the 5 symptoms this year to empower people to hold small events around the country (at their work, library, church, home) by sending them #WearBlueforDiabetes packs. Each one reach one.

How do you want to get involved?

This is obviously a very quick overview of what we want to do in 2025, but we’d love to have you get involved! Please comment on this post with any ideas, or email us, or comment on Facebook or Instagram – we’d love to hear from you.

What do you think?

Sweet Life is a registered NPO/PBO (220-984) with a single goal: to improve diabetes in South Africa. We are funded by sponsorships and donations from aligned companies and organisations who believe in our work. We only share information that we believe benefits our community. While some of this information is linked to specific brands, it is not an official endorsement of that brand. We believe in empowering people with diabetes to make the best decisions they can, to live a healthy, happy life with diabetes.
