Diabetes and Thyroid workshops in Cape Town

Course dates for DIABETES AND THYROID WORKSHOPS in Cape Town until May 2012

Hello and a happy 2012 to you and your family. Due to the fantastic response we have had from our courses, and the fact that they were all fully-booked in advance, we are releasing new dates for the Diabetes Education Course and the Thyroid Seminar up until May 2012. This will hopefully give everyone a chance to pre-book now, and if we are overbooked again there will be opportunity to add dates where possible.

There is a link between diabetes and thyroid issues, for those who are wondering why we run courses on both topics!

Dates for next Pre-Diabetes/Diabetes Course:
21, 22 and 23 February 2012 (6pm-8pm)
8, 9 and 10 May 2012 (6pm-8pm)

Dates for Thyroid Seminars:
6 February 2012 (6pm-8-30pm)
5 March 2012 (6pm-8-30pm)

  • Pre-Diabetic/Diabetic Education Course

This course is for anyone who is overweight, at risk of diabetes, who has type 1 or type 2 diabetes, or anyone looking after/living with someone who has diabetes.

We have about 20 different health professionals speaking over the 3 sessions, from podiatrists, dieticians, wound care specialists and ophthalmologist to Sports Science Institute and a weight-loss hypnotherapist! We aim to cover all aspects of diabetes management in a positive, motivational way, and give each person a chance to interact with doctors, nurses and others in an informal environment. By the end of the course you should feel empowered and knowledgeable, and inspired to look after yourself. The structure will be formal speakers addressing the whole group of patients for the first hour, then some tea/coffee and snacks, and the last hour will be small group sessions of 15 minutes each. This will enable you to ask questions and be more interactive without feeling shy! On the final evening there is a Q and A session, and we will stay for as long as it takes to answer every single question you may have.

Some comments from the course delegates (these are taken directly from feedback questionnaire):

·         Excellent structure, very informative. Enlightening and I now understand my disorder after years of frustruation and depression
·         An excellent and wonderful course
·         After knowing nothing about diabetes I feel that I have been well-informed and gained a world of knowledge.
·         All presenters were outstanding
·         I have learnt such a lot and am very grateful for this
·         More of these courses should be organised
·         If I had this knowledge a long time ago things might be different for me today
·         My only complaint is that I missed the first session!
