Type 1 diabetic child with stomach ache

Hi everyone,

My son is 10 years old and was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes two years ago.

He suffers a lot from tummy aches. What can I give him to relieve the pain?

Thanks for the advice.

    Dear Adele
Stomach ache in children is very common. The most common causes in Diabetes is constipation due to erratic
High blood sugars especially with ketones can cause quite severe tummy ache, low blood sugars also can cause a sore tummy.
Eating too much food especially sweets and chocolates with artificial sweeteners causes discomfort in some children.
I would suggest you try and find the reason by elimination and then treat appropriately.
A very anxious child also gets a sore tummy
Let your doctor prescribe something after examining to exclude some of the above
Good luck .I hope he feels better soon
    Regards
