Dance for Diabetes

We know that living with diabetes is hard. But we also know that we are so lucky to have this South African community of people living with diabetes that we can connect with every day.

This World Diabetes Day, we want to celebrate our community by joining together to Dance for Diabetes.
Join us at 12pm on Sunday 14th November to dance!

The IDF World Diabetes Day challenge is to ‘exercise in blue’. We know that exercise has an enormous impact on blood glucose, so we’re inviting our community to literally see the difference in blood glucose when you exercise for 15 minutes.

Gather your friends and family, wear blue for diabetes and join us at 12pm on Sunday 14th November to dance! Test your blood glucose at 12pm before you dance (with your FreeStyle Libre!) and again at 12.15pm, after dancing for 15 mins, and see what a difference exercise makes to blood glucose.

How to join in:

  • Wear blue for diabetes!
  • Get 3 of your favourite dance songs ready.
  • Log into Zoom at 12pm: www.bit.ly/DanceForDiabetes
(Don’t forget! You don’t have to download Zoom, it can just open in your browser.)
  • If you can’t join us live on Zoom, set up your video to record yourself.
  • Check your blood glucose before you start dancing and show us what you’ve got.
  • Mute yourself (so only you can hear your music).
  • Let’s dance! Make sure you include our signature dance pose.
  • Check your blood glucose again after the 3 songs are up, and show us how it’s changed from 15 mins of exercise.
  • Share on social media using #FingerstickFree for the chance to win one of 5 fabulous prizes

Please share the details with all your friends!
